CHAPTER ONE
Complete both of the following activities:
Draw the setting of Buck's first home.
Using yahoo maps create Buck's journey from Santa Clara, California to Skagway, Alaska.
To print a color copy of the map, click on "printable map" and print only page one of your destination on the Avi color printer.
To print only one page, uncheck the "all" box and check the "from" box, then type the number 1 in both the "from" and "to" boxes.
CHAPTER TWO
Complete the following activities:
1. Describe in a paragraph of at least 5 complete sentences the "law of the club and fang."
2. Make a list of daily "laws" that you must follow at home and school. At least 3 laws for each.
3. Buck is a St. Bernard and German Shepherd mixture. Read the following web sites: German Shepherd , Saint Bernard Write a short paragraph describing what qualities from these two breeds of dogs make Buck a good sled dog?
4. Create a diagram of the sled dog team. Be sure to get them in the correct order and label each dog on the team.

1. Using Inspiration software make a cause and effect chart for Chapter 4.
2. The "main idea" in the Inspiration web should be the "effect". The other bubbles should be the "causes". (for example: "effect" - "Buck became the leader of the team because...")
3. Use of graphics is encouraged.
CHAPTER FIVE
Complete the following activity:
1. Get two character charts from Mrs. Clem.
2. On one chart, list the traits exhibited by one of these characters: Charles, Mercedes or Hal. On the second chart list the traits of John Thornton.
3. Get a Venn diagram sheet from Mrs. Clem.
Using your two character charts fill in the Venn diagram with the traits of the characters that are the same and different.

1. You will create two poems. Choose a human character and an animal character from the Call of the Wild and create a BIO poem for each character.

5. Write a descriptive paragraph explaining what changes you see in yourself. Your paragraph must have at least 10 sentences.
