Holiday Dinner
Since many of you will be celebrating Thanksgiving this week, I thought it would be fun for each of you to plan a holiday meal (notice I said holiday and not Thanksgiving). This meal can be for the holiday of your choosing.
Expectations:
- You must choose one main dish (this is the biggest part of the meal - the centerpiece if you will).
- You must have at least four side dishes (these are the foods that are usually served in smaller portions compared to the main dish).
- You must have at least two desserts.
- You must have a few (3-4) drink options for your guests.
- You must choose a theme. This can be centered around the holiday, or just be a general theme that appeals to you.
- You must “invite” seven people to your meal. These people can be family, friends, fictional characters, athletes, famous people etc. However, if you choose to invite LeBron James to your dinner the rest of your dinner party must also be NBA players. If you choose to invite Harry Potter, then the rest of your guests must be from those books. You will make a list of your invites, and next to each name you will explain to me why this person/character is being invited.
- You have $200 to spend on this meal. You will need to look up prices for all of the foods that you plan on preparing, make a list with the food name and the price next to it, and make sure that you do not go over budget. DO NOT TRY TO JUST MAKE UP PRICES! I am the one who goes grocery shopping in my house, so I will most likely be able to tell if you are making stuff up. Take the time to do this the right way.
- Once you have finished all of these requirements, I want you to write a paragraph or two about how your holiday meal went. Pretend that all of your guests showed up, imagine the conversations that occurred, and explain this to me.
- This should be done as a slide show. You should have at least seven slides.
